Your surgery day
Surgicare of Lake Charles
Our surgeons perform cataract and glaucoma surgery at Surgicare of Lake Charles, a dedicated outpatient surgery center on Lake Street. No hospital stay: you go home the same day.
People’s Choice: Best Surgery Center, 2024
Why an outpatient surgery center?
A surgery center like Surgicare is built for one thing: same-day procedures. Without the emergencies and admissions of a large hospital, the day runs on schedule, check-in is simpler, and the nurses and staff do outpatient surgery every day.
For most patients that means a calmer, shorter visit, in a setting that feels more like a clinic than a hospital. Southwest Louisiana agrees: the community named Surgicare the People’s Choice Best Surgery Center in 2024.
Procedures our surgeons perform at Surgicare
- Cataract surgery, including femto laser cataract surgery and premium lens implants
- iStent, placed during cataract surgery
- iDose TR glaucoma implants
What your surgery day looks like
Your exact instructions come from our office before surgery. Here is the general flow, so nothing is a surprise.
Before the day
We measure your eye in our office to choose your lens, go over your medications and give you written instructions. Arrange for someone to drive you home. You may be asked to skip breakfast, depending on your surgery time.
Check in at Surgicare
The Surgicare team checks you in and gets you comfortable. You will receive eye drops and, often, a mild medicine to help you relax.
Your procedure
Your eye is numbed so you feel little, if any, discomfort. You may see light and movement, but you will not see the surgery itself.
A short recovery
After a brief rest in recovery, you head home with your driver, usually with a protective shield over your eye.
Follow-up with us
Your doctor typically checks your eye at our office within a day. Most patients are back to most of their routine the day after surgery.
What patients say about Surgicare
My cataract surgery was such a blessing. There was no pain and the procedure went just like they explained it to me. Surgicare staff took great care of me.
Every single part of the process was effortless and easy. All I had to do was show up. Pre-op and post-op and even the person who greeted us at the door were all knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. The facility was clean, organized, and prepared.
The surgery center where Dr. Falgoust performed the surgery is very nice as well. I can see very clear now.
The staff is consistently friendly, caring, and very knowledgeable.
Everyone was so kind and caring, a very professional atmosphere. Loved my visit.
