What is iDose TR?

iDose TR is a tiny implant that sits inside the eye and releases glaucoma medication (travoprost) slowly and continuously. Instead of putting in drops every day, patients get a steady dose delivered right where it is needed.

It is approved for adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, and it can help patients who struggle with daily drops because of side effects, cost, arthritis or simply remembering.

How it is placed

iDose TR is placed during a short procedure in the operating room through a very small opening at the edge of the cornea. Unlike the iStent, it does not need to be combined with cataract surgery, so it can be an option for patients who have already had cataract surgery or are not yet ready for it.

What to expect

  • A quick outpatient procedure with numbing medicine for comfort.
  • A short course of eye drops afterward while the eye heals.
  • Regular pressure checks so your doctor can confirm the implant is working and adjust your treatment if needed.

Many patients are able to stop or reduce their daily glaucoma drops while the implant is working. Your doctor will explain how long the effect is expected to last for you and what the options are when it wears off.

Is iDose TR right for me?

Your doctor will look at your type of glaucoma, your current medications and the health of your cornea before recommending iDose TR. It may be used alone or alongside DSLT laser treatment.
